Can you keep your patients safe if there is a fire? We can provide specialist guidance and assistance to make sure of compliance and safety, so that if there was a fire systems are in place.
- Fire can spread very quickly if not compartmentalised
- Safeguarding patients and staff members is the priortiy
- Sleeping element can make hospitals more susceptible to fire hazards, especially at night
- Total evacuation not always appropriate, moving into a protected area can be a safer approach
- If total evacuation is needed a safe zone needs to be created to allow access and a viable escape route

What is the FIRAS Accreditation?
FIRAS is a third party certification scheme that verifies the competence of a contractor company to design fire protection systems. As a participant in the scheme we employ appropriately skilled design, supervision and operational staff who have been assessed.
- FIRAS certification is strictly controlled to cover only the trade disciplines assessed
- All FIRAS site inspectors have technical and practical knowledge and experience in fire protection
- Each FIRAS Certificated company is required to continue to demonstrate compliance with industry standards and material/product manufacturer installation instructions
- Many customers know little about how fire threatens their staff or business or what their legal obligations are
Case study:
Austen House, Tatchbury Mount
The £4.3m Kier Southern project comprised of refurbishment of a 17 bedroom child and adolescent mental health unit based at Tatchbury Mount on the edge of the New Forest. Our works included specialist fire protection penetration sealing throughout the unit plus bespoke intumescent paint to timber joists. A fully compliant Rockwool specified system was installed. This process was managed using state of the art Bolster reporting and upon completion a FIRAS compliant certification was issued to client, by 3-4 FIRAS accredited operatives.
